Meena earned her Master’s in Advanced Social Work from the University of Westminster (London, UK), where she was recognized with the Advanced Award in Social Work. She is a Registered Social Worker and holds membership with professional associations such as the BC College of Social Workers, the BC Association of Social Workers, and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
With a wealth of experience in working with various communities, including First Nations, visible minorities, diverse abilities, women, those with chronic health conditions, disabilities, and LGBTQ2SI individuals, Meena’s work history encompasses public agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and private clinical practice.
Meena works from a Systems perspective that includes political, social and cultural dimensions of inter-relational power.
She integrates a range of theoretical and practice methodologies including Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Existential, Narrative, Feminist, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment theory, and Relational Therapy, Compassion and Trauma informed approaches.
She has also contributed to the field through counselling, university lecturing, social work consultancy, and research advocacy in British Columbia.
